Last week, I finally received my sponsorship packet from Compassion. I had been patiently, well, not so patiently waiting for a few months. I have been matched up with a boy from Ethiopia. His name is Abel, and he is 18 years old. I received my first letter from him last week also. I will be mailing my first letter to Abel tomorrow. I am so excited to get to know this young man. Again, thanks to Ree for allowing me this opportunity.
Last week I had the opportunity to become a sponsor for Compassion. Compassion is Christian child sponsorship program. For a small monthly fee, they put you in contact with an underprivileged child. This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time. But with money being tight, I haven't been able to. Well, thanks to Ree over at The Pioneer Woman I am now able to do this. Ree and her husband have taken on the financial responsibility for several of Compassions older children. She then asked for volunteers to take on the responsibility of corresponding with, and praying for the sponsored children. Well, I signed up as quickly as I could. My sponsorship information is in the mail, and I should receive it before the end of the month. I am so excited to have been given this opportunity. I will let you all know how it goes.
